Design For Manufacturability

Design For Manufacturability (DFM) is a highly valued practice that greatly contributes to reduction in production time and cost. The process involves understanding the design intent and reviewing the feature dimensions and tolerances, and understanding the mechanical properties of material selections and determining their overall impact on product functionality, durability and cost.

Protonautics has been designing and manufacturing components since 2000. Some of our key staff have more than 30 years experience with CNC machining. We have extensive knowledge on various component manufacturing processes and materials – their strengths and weaknesses. Our programmers and machinists have the experience that allow them to  understand what is involved in bringing a product into reality. We understand important factors such as tooling, material types, their grades and any limitations there may be. Therefore it is with confidence that we can review and provide recommendations to further improve your designs and products.

We can also offer a formal report of our analysis to you. This analysis optimises the efficiency in manufacturing, the quality of the product, taking into account your needs, cost and turnaround requirements. Contact us with any queries, or get a quote.
